RISAN PROJECT
The Cresta Alta Film Tour is engaging audiences throughout the US with arts councils, colleges, high schools and museums at events produced by The Risan Project. The 2025 tour features Risan Media’s expedition-based climate change documentary film titled, Cresta Alta, that chronicles a journey to Alaska, Iceland, Chile and Peru to document glaciological research expeditions and sustainability. The screenings are followed by a discussion/Q&A with producer and director, Todd Anders Johnson, that connects Cresta Alta’s global environmental messaging to local and regional environmental movements. The Risan Project commences the show with a screening of Risan Media’s short documentary film titled, Northward, that shares the origin story of Todd Anders Johnson’s socially-conscious, Colorado band, Salem, while touring and backcountry snowboarding throughout Alaska.  Following the screening of Cresta Alta and the Q&A portion, the events culminate in a concert with Salem. In featuring Todd Anders Johnson’s snowboard mountaineering and being a touring musician with a passion for integrating socially-conscious elements into Salem’s hybrid music, The Risan Project establishes an authentic and engaging relationship with diverse audiences that enhances the experience of the Cresta Alta Film.

CRESTA ALTA
A journey to Alaska, Iceland, Chile and Peru to document glaciological research expeditions and sustainability.

Parallels of ecological impacts of climate change in Arctic and Andean regions are revealed on glaciological research expeditions in Chile, Alaska, Iceland and Peru. Cresta Alta follows the commitment of scientists who travel deep into the wilderness to gather field data that informs our collective understanding of climate change impacts on our planet. Sustainability initiatives in these same locations offer insight into the potential for viable alternatives and solutions.

NORTHWARD: THE SALEM STORY
Produced by Risan Media, Northward is a short documentary that chronicles the story of Colorado-based band, Salem, that performs Todd Anders Johnson’s socially-conscious compositions blending alternative rock, world, hip-hop, jazz and neo-soul. Northward is now being distributed throughout Europe on the AbsintheTV channel on Samsung TV Plus.

SALEM
salem means peace

Salem performs Todd Anders Johnson’s socially-conscious compositions blending alternative rock, world, hip-hop, jazz and neo-soul. The band is composed of snowboarders and skiers and Salem tours throughout North America with Risan Project multi-media events featuring concerts alongside action sports films and content from the environmental and cannabis industries. Salem has performed nationally alongside acts such as Karl Denson, Keller Williams, Brett Dennen, Rose Hill Drive, Pato Banton, De La Soul, Sweatshop Union, Bomba Estereo, The Meters (PBS), Bone Thugs N Harmony, DJ Logic, Stanton Moore and Will Bernard, Hells Belles, Tab Benoit, Rebirth Brass Band, Steve Earle and Zilla. Salem has played the Winter X Games, the US Freeskiing Open, The US Snowboarding Grand Prix, the US Snowboarding VISA Cup, the Canadian Freeskiing Championships, the Breckenridge Spring Massive, the Keystone River Run Rocks and the Northface Masters of Snowboarding. Salem music is featured in “Tailgate Alaska: The Movie”, the Teva Stand Up Paddling Educational DVD, Hiroyuki Yamada’s “End of the Line”, Warren Miller’s “Off the Grid”, the Winter X 12 Games After Party CD Compilation and the Bolder Boulder CD compilation.

“Salem unites seemingly disparate topics: global peace and powder shots. Blending jazz, funk, spoken word and some Afro-Cuban beats, it makes crowds dance and think.” Katy Niner, Jackson Hole News and Guide

“It can be hard to follow Johnson’s movements; he’s in a constant state of motion. If he isn’t splitboarding (a backcountry form of snowboarding), he might be translating the poetry of a Nigerian political activist into a song or organizing a snow sports and music event with the cannabis industry.” Nick Hutchinson, Westword
