Map here: https://payetteriverwalk.org/?page_id=1201. Park in the designated parking area, walk through the gate and head down to the river where we will meet.

Accessibility Note: This outdoor workshop takes place on natural, uneven terrain with a 100-yard walk along a dirt road from the parking area. Folding chairs on flat ground are provided. If you need closer parking or extra mobility support, please let us know – we are happy to help!

Curious about watercolor or field journaling but not sure where to start? This introductory outdoor workshop is for you.

Led by 2026 PLT BIG HEART artist, Kim Thompson, and hosted by McCall Arts & Humanities in partnership with Payette Land Trust, this experience is designed for all abilities. No art or watercolor experience is needed.

Rather than focusing on creating a perfect painting, you’ll learn the basics of field journaling, slow down to observe the landscape, and discover how nature can inspire creativity. Spend an evening outdoors exploring a conserved riverside property, engaging in conversation about art, conservation, and the natural world, and leaving with new skills, fresh inspiration, and a deeper connection to the place around you.

No need to bring a thing—everything you need to create will be provided. Plus, PLT will be serving up delicious botanical mocktails to sip and enjoy while you craft!
