Stories & Art Inspired by Local Wildlife
Based on the new children’s book Animal Tales brought to you by the Payette Land Trust
Ages: 8-11
Date: March 9th
Time: 3:30-5pm
Instructors: Craig Vroom, Author & Amy Ruiz, Illustrator of Animal Tales
Does your student love animals, stories, or drawing? In this interactive after-school session, students will explore storytelling and illustration through the lens of local wildlife and conservation, inspired by the Animal Tales book series.
The class is divided into two creative segments. First, students will learn the basics of story writing—focusing on characters, conflict, and outcomes—while developing their own animal-centered tale. Then, students will explore pen illustration techniques such as stippling and cross-hatching, finishing the class by creating an illustrated animal of their own.
This hands-on class blends literacy, art, and environmental awareness in a fun and engaging way. All supplies are simple and provided (pens and paper).
