Have you wanted to know what the ketogenic diet is and whether or not you should try it? In this class, Susan McCandless, RD and Gail Eberharter Rankin, MD, will review popular podcasts and scientific literature to look at how the ketogenic diet and its variations might be beneficial. The key concept of “keto” is that of using healthy fat as the body’s main fuel source rather than glucose. We will try to dispel myths and provide sound science on how to use the information available and apply it on an individual basis when appropriate. We will also discuss the related topic of modified fasting. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and observations to share as Gail and Susan bring clarity to this multi-faceted trend. Susan McCandless, RDN, IFNCP, CLT is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist working with St. Luke’s McCall’s Integrative Medicine Clinic. She holds  advanced certifications in integrative and functional nutrition, food sensitivities and intuitive eating therapy. Gail Eberharter Rankin, MD, has been practicing Functional Medicine for over 15 years.  Registration Required
